Ms. Meertens is an assistant principal for the New York City Department of Education. In this role, she specializes in professional development for literacy and math coaches, as well as facilitates advisory committees for teacher training of social and emotional learning programs. Ms. Meertens has also published an article regarding enhancing pedagogy in the middle school math classroom, and is a recent recipient of the RESET Award for her work in education during the Covid-19 pandemic.
